Our Mission

To provide access to junior players who do not have the financial means for club membership or on-going tournament play. This program will bridge the gap by providing match play for beginning to intermediate level players allowing them to develop their competitive experience and prepare for high school varsity competition.

About Me

My name is Koua Yang. I am a USPTA and PTR certified teaching professional and a youth tennis coach. I was the boys and girls head tennis coach at Harding High School for 15 years before becoming the athletic director at Como Park Senior High. I have also worked for Saint Paul Urban Tennis (SPUT) for over twenty years.  In 2010, I was selected as Minnesota Boys Tennis Coach of the Year and in 2016 I was a finalist for MN Teacher of the Year. These experiences have led me to the belief that young players need more opportunities for affordable, competitive, match play.

Parent Testimonial

Thank you Community Tennis for providing an affordable, nurturing way for my daughter to work on tennis fundamentals as well as practice them in competitive match play.  Community Tennis is a very unique program because it provides personal coaching with an emphasis on learning as well as competition.  My daughter was a new JV player this fall and wanted to keep playing inside during the winter.  The coaching my daughter received at Community Tennis was high quality, positive and personalized.  The match play provided many different types of competitors from all over the Twin Cities.  Instead of a drill class where you play the same people each week, this program matches you against new players each week.  The program was very well run and my daughter has gained match experience, new insight into her strengths and weakness and a lot more confidence.  Overall, she is emerging from the winter off-season a much stronger tennis player.
